The Kenya Industrial Property Institute (KIPI) is a State Corporation under the Ministry of Industrialization established under the Industrial Property Act 2001 to administer and promote industrial property rights (IPRs) in Kenya.

Its main functions include registration of patents, trademarks, industrial designs, utility models and technovations; promotion of innovative and inventive activities; dissemination of IP information to the public, screening of technology transfer agreements and licenses and offering training in IPR.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Clerical Officers’ cadre is responsible for carrying out miscellaneous clerical tasks, which vary according to the size and nature of the office of deployment. 
The officer may be deployed on general personnel duties, industrial property registries, general registry and accounts office or on general office services. 
He/she will be called upon to compile statistical records based on routine or special sources of information, data capture for the industrial property applications, make calculations related to accounts or personnel information, handle receipts and other records and arrange them systematically in files, compose simple letters and perform other similar clerical duties. 
Work at this level is usually carried out under close supervision and is subject to regular checks and verification.

Requirements for Appointment
This is the entry grade for Clerical Officers appointed in this cadre. 
Candidates must be in possession of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education with at least grade C or its recognised equivalent. 
Good knowledge of computer packages and record management will be an added advantage.
