Advertisement for the Recruitment of General Service Officer (GSO) Cadets & Specialist Officers into the Kenya Defence Forces

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) is pleased to announce to the general public that there ?ill be a recruitment of General Ser?ice Officer (GSO) Cadets & Specialist Officers. 
Prospecti?e candidates ?ishing to appl? must possess the follo?ing rele?ant requirements.
 

 

1. Requirements
a. Must be Ken?an citi?ens.
b. Age: Bet?een 18 and 26 ?ears old for GSO Cadets and upto 29 ?ears for Specialist Officers.
c. Be ph?sicall? and medicall? fit in accordance ?ith the KDF standards.
d. ?a?e no criminal record.

e. Minimum ?eight: 5 ft 3 in. (5’3”).

f. Minimum Weight:
(1) Men – 54.55 Kg (120 lb).
(2) Women – 50.00 Kg (110 lb).

g. Women candidates must NOT be pregnant at recruitment and during training.

h. Education:

(1) General Service Offlcer (GSO) Cadets
A minimum mean grade of B (Plain) in KCSE upto degree le?el ?ith minimum subject grade of C+ (Plus) in English, Mathematics and in an? one of the Pure Sciences (Ph?sics, Chemistr? or Biolog?).Those aspiring to join KDF as GSO Cadets should note that the initial training period will cover three continuous years leading to a BSC in Militar? Science on successful completion.

(2) Specialist Offlcers
  • A minimum mean grade of B (Plain) in KCSE and an undergraduate degree from a recognised Uni?ersit?/Institution.
  • Must be registered ?ith the rele?ant statutor? bod?, ?here applicable.
  • E?perience: Minimum of t?o (2) ?ears’ ?orking e?perience for Specialist Officers.

(1) Medical Offlcers
  • Must have a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBCh.B) degree and be registered ?ith the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board (MPDB).
(2) Dentists
  • Must have a Bachelor of Dentistry degree and be registered with the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board (MPDB).
(3) Lawyers
  • Must have a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree and a postgraduate diploma from the Ken?a School of La?, must be admitted as an ad?ocate of the ?igh Court of Ken?a and be in possession of a ?alid current practising certificate.
(4) Architects
  • Must ha?e a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) degree and be registered with the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantit? Sur?e?ors (BORAQS).
(5) Electrical Engineers
  • Must ha?e a BSc. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Bachelor of Technology degree and be registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB).
(6) Mechanical Engineers
  • Must ha?e a BSc. in Mechanical Engineering or BSc. in Production Engineering degree and be registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB).
(7) Marine Engineers
  • Must ha?e a BSc. in Mechanical Engineering or BSc. in Production Engineering degree and be registered ?ith the Engineers Registration Board (ERB).
(8) IT Specialists (Statistics)
  • Must ha?e a BSc. in Statistics degree ?ith IT.
(9) Chaplains / Imams
(a) Roman Catholic Chaplains
  • Must ha?e a professional degree and be an ordained priest.
(b) Anglican Church Chaplains
  • Must ha?e a professional degree and be an ordained priest.
(c) Muslim Imams
  • Must ha?e a professional degree and be a qualified Imam.
(10) Material Estimate Officer
  • Must have Bachelor of Quantity surveying and be registered with the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Sur?e?ors (BORAQS).
(11) Communication/IT
  • Must ha?e a BSc in Information and Communication Technolog?.
3. The initial militar? training for Specialist Officers ?ill take four months.
4. Clear photocopies of genuine and rele?ant academic certificates and national ID card must be attached to the application and be addressed to the:
