Elective Africa Communications Intern
Job Location: Nairobi, Kenya
 
Summary: Elective Africa ‘’EA’’ is seeking an enthusiastic Communications Intern to join our unique Expedition Company.
Elective Africa is an organization in the education travel industry, a leading organizer of healthcare electives, gap breaks and volunteering expeditions and is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya.
The communications intern will assist in the Elective Africa’s Communications department.
Elective Africa (EA) believes it is most effective when it is in communication and in good relations with its various audiences from written communication to social media.
To succeed, you will need to be Energetic, inventive, hard working, social media and web-savvy and with ideas about creative ways to engage audiences in the various platforms.
While assisting with a wide range of projects, the intern will gain experience and training in many aspects of communication, while also gaining a good understanding of working with a diverse team of people.
 
Responsibilities
  • Managing Social Media Tools (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) for current and potential Elective Africa’s supporters.
  • Assist in creating videos for audience development purposes. These videos range from one-and-a-half minutes to four and-a-half minutes.
  • Assist with editing EA publications. Should have the ability to write catchy articles independently.
  • Assisting in the production of advertisements, press releases and promotional materials.
  • Assisting with mailings to EA contacts and constantly sorting EA contacts list.
Requirements
  • A bachelors degree in Communication with a minimum of second class honors upper division if a recent graduate
  • A creative, innovative and detailed oriented person with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Should possess outstanding communication skills (writing and verbal) with passion for communication
  • Ability to work long hours and work well under pressure and with tight deadlines
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented with superior written, verbal and organizational skills
  • Excellent computer skills with experience in Social Media & Microsoft office
  • The ability to work independently and with others
