Tender Engineer Job Opportunity in Kenya May 2015

We manage the permanent operations of Vinci Construction within the African continent.
Our core activities are road and earth works, hydraulic engineering, civil engineering and building.
Due to our continued growth in the EA region, we are seeking to fill the position of Tender Engineer with a high-caliber individual to join our growing team.
The incumbent will actively participate in the growth of the company in the region.

Job Purpose: The job holder will be responsible for the proposal and tender of, often, complex high-value engineering projects.

You will need to understand, interpret and respond to complex technical specifications and documentation.
Attached to the Technical tendering department, the successful candidate will perform specialized work in helping to assess risk, project costing, and is involved in estimation, cost control, and risk analysis.

Job Profile

Preliminary phase:

  • Identification and receipt of tender dossier.
  • Preparation of costing estimates and project summary sheets.
  • Analyze the feasibility of projects and prepare corresponding reports
Tendering Phase
  • Analyze the tender dossiers (written documents and plans) taking into account the context (geographical, administrative, political and fiscal) in which the project falls.
  • Establish the planning of the project in accordance with the deadlines, and project implementation phases
  • Project cost analysis (cadences, resources, means) including the consolidation of prices of suppliers, co-contractors and subcontractors by including variations solutions if allowed
  • Liaise with technical, legal and insurance contractors for relevant services to ensure technical compliance
  • Site visits and authentication of available resources
  • Prepare appropriate offers and tender documents
  • Prepare presentations, if necessary for the risk committee and participate in related meetings
  • Liaise with suppliers, co-contractors and any subcontractors, and participate in negotiations and development of the market
  • Prepare the transfer folder where the project is awarded to the project team
Candidate Profile:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Clear understanding of tenders and tender documents
  • Solid knowledge of construction business with bias to road and earthworks, methods, techniques, construction planning and contractual aspects of the markets and on the use of equipment.
  • 3-5 years on – site experience
  • Relevant software experience e.g. AUTOCAD, MS project software price studies etc
  • Understands construction practices and systems, estimating concepts & processes
  • Ability to identify the output of construction equipment
