Sales Manager, Sandvik Process Systems (SPS) Eastern Africa
Sandvik Process Systems is looking for a Sales Manager to play an active part in growing and developing the local business in Eastern Africa.
This will primarily be through frequent contact and visits with current and potential customers in order to generate sales for the company.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
  • Receive and manage inquiries from the agents / customers, send accurate proposals after consultation with the Product Units and relevant sales and marketing resources
  • Establish action planning and organise visits of active customers and prospects
  • Negotiate and finalise orders / contracts in accordance with the Value Based Selling
  • Update all effective databases with objectives, activities, and market / competitor trends
  • Organize and participate in selected exhibitions with the support of the SPS Marketing and Communication department

  • Field Sales: Knowledge of the tools and techniques for effectively working in a defined region, identifying prospective customers and maintaining quality service relationships.
  • Knowledge of Customers: Ability to utilize customer profile and information.
  • Knowledge of Organization: Awareness, knowledge and insight into the organization’s vision, structure, culture, philosophy, operating principles, values, and code of ethics; ability to apply this understanding appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Knowledge of Product line: Knowledge of specific products and associated development process and strategy.
  • Knowledge of Sales Channels: Ability to coordinate multiple and diverse options for selling organization’s products and services.
  • Technical Sales Support: Knowledge of the tasks, tools and procedures associated with providing technical support to the sales team and prospective customers; ability to produce positive results in sales-client interventions.
  • Marketing Function: Knowledge of the major responsibilities, accountabilities, and organization of the marketing function or department.
  • Negotiating: Knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques; ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Teamwork: Understanding of the necessity and value of teamwork; ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Interpersonal Relationships: Ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
Experience
  • Work experience in Sales and/or Marketing within an international company operating in Africa, preferably in industries such as Food processing, Chemical, Engineering or Metallurgy.
Education
  • University degree in Sales and Marketing, or Mechanical Engineering.
Other
  • Written and spoken English and Swahili
  • Ability to travel in Africa and Europe
  • Computer knowledge
  • Driver’s license
