Resilience and Economic Growth in the Arid Lands–Accelerated Growth
Call for Applications: Animal Health Business Development Grants
ACDI / VOCA is currently implementing the five-year USAID funded Resilience and Economic Growth in the Arid Lands – Accelerated Growth (REGAL-AG) program in Isiolo and Marsabit Counties.
The goal of REGAL-AG is to create a more inclusive and competitive livestock value chain that increases pastoralists’ resilience and stimulates economic growth in Kenya’s arid lands.
As part of its activities, REGALAG aims to strengthen the livestock value chain through investing in livestock related businesses through the provision of business development grants.
The REGAL-Accelerated Growth program is seeking applications from interested Agrovets / Animal health Service Providers interested in promoting and delivering quality animal health inputs and services to livestock producers in the Counties of Marsabit and Isiolo.
Proposed investments will focus on of the following equipment necessary to deliver quality animal health inputs, information and service:
- Cold chain installations – Including refrigeration fridges or freezers installed with solar panel system installations
- Cooler boxes for storing vaccines while in transit
- Tents for livestock outreach events
- Public address systems for disseminating messages in markets among other events.
ACDI/VOCA anticipates to award 15-25 grants generally in the range of Ksh.200,000 – Kshs 500,000 per grant.
ACDI/VOCA will provide support for equipment and will directly procure identified goods and/or installation services (e.g. equipment and installation costs) for the grantee based on activities identified in the grant application and viability of the enterprise.
Individual grants awarded will be in-kind grants with no direct transfer of cash.

The RFA pick-up period will be from May 27, 2015 with a closing date of June 26, 2015 for receiving all applications.
