We serve a wide range of clients in South Sudan and Kenya offering various services which include but are not limited to Air Cargo Services; Air Charters; Road Cargo Transportation Services; Boat Cargo Services;
We are looking for a dynamic, creative and self-oriented professional to fill the position of:
 
Operations Manager
Location: The Incumbent will be based in Nairobi, Kenya
 
Job Summary: Reporting to the General Manager Business Development & Operations, the person will be responsible for the overall Operations & Logistics function of the Company in the Nairobi Office
 

 

Main Duties
  • Manage all air, sea and land import/export files while ensuring proper compliance and adherence to Export /Import Administration Regulations;
  • Provide quality customer service and facilitate import/export of client cargo;
  • Receive client documentation and ensure it is correct and complete; Follow up with clients for missing or required documentation;
  • Follow up on the status of consignments and keep the client updated; Record client complaints and initiate corrective actions to ensure their needs are met;
  • Follow up with the clients to ensure settlement of amounts as per the invoice; Ensure all collections are made from cash clients before delivery is made;
  • Inform clients when there are additional charges incurred during clearance; Ensure the client accepts the same and the correspondence maintained on file for our records.
  • Plan and prepare Customs clearance before shipment arrival in Kenya. Opens Customs files and follows up on customs clearance operations;
  • Ensures Customs operations are in compliance with Customs procedures and Allied Services Limited rules and procedures;
  • Interface cross-functionally at all levels within the Departments of the Company, including communication with external resources and concerns, such as freight forwarders, third party providers and governmental agencies;
  • Communicating effectively with clients & responding to their requirements. Act as logistics facilitator to ensure that all elements of the international delivery process are coordinated to meet customer requirements in a timely and high quality;
  • Assist the Marketing team with sourcing of Clients and maintaining already established client relationships.
  • Booking sub-contractors/Agencies and ensuring they deliver within the agreed Service Level Agreement (SLA); and
  • Responsible for administrative functions such as forecasting, budgeting, and preparation of the relevant monthly and annual reports for management consumption
Job Specification
The incumbent will be required to possess the following qualifications, attributes and skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, or related discipline, or equivalent;
  • At least 3-5 years extensive experience in a busy logistics Company;
  • Proven ability to work creatively and independently both in the field and in the office;
  • Strong computer and communication equipment skills, including Microsoft Office applications, are required;
  • Experience working with staff in other regions/countries will be an added advantage;
