Field Officer Job at Busara Center for Behavioral Economics in Siaya County Kenya 2015

Busara Center for Behavioral Economics is a research organization that seeks to improve the understanding of how people living in poverty make decisions and to leverage that knowledge to produce better social outcomes.
About the project: This is a follow-up study of a recent GiveDirectly evaluation project that aims to measure the impacts of adjustments to existing GiveDirectly protocols to reducing spousal conflict and boosting women’s empowerment.
We are currently looking for Field Officers who are extremely skilled in conducting focus group discussions (FGDs) and in-depth interviews (IDIs) and are available for a 2-3 week time period.
Description of Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prompt arrival at work.
- Administer qualitative surveys
- Completion of scheduled activities each day in a timely manner.
- Successfully working in a team.
- Organizing data collected from the field.
- On non-field days: conscientious performance of office work (such as matching IDs, translation of work, photocopying, etc.)
- Ensure data integrity is maintained at all times and minimize errors in data collection
- Maintaining high standard of professional integrity in all activities.
- Providing the supervisor with daily feedback regarding surveying activities.
Required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in Dhuluo (must), English and Kiswahili
- Proven experience in moderating focus group discussions and conducting in-depth interviews (must)
- Ability to recognize when questions are difficult or unclear to subjects
- Proven experience in excellent note taking ability during qualitative interviews
- Bachelors’ degree or college diploma in social sciences, economic, development studies and/or business administration
- Past experience in moderating qualitative data collection- show proof of this in application
- Past experience in moderating Focus group discussions and In-depth interviews
