Vacancy: CBO and Community TB Officer

Challenge TB is one of USAID’s main country level TB implementation mechanisms.
Challenge TB aligns with the WHO post-2015 Global TB Strategy and the new USG TB Strategy to enhance focus on improving patient-centered quality TB services, developing evidence based country specific strategies to achieve high impact results, building local capacity and the utilization of innovations and new technologies to move forward in the global fight against TB.

The five-year cooperative agreement runs from September 2014 – September 2019.
Challenge TB is implemented by lead partner KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation, and other consortium partners include American Thoracic Society, FHI 360, IRD, International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, Japan Anti-Tuberculosis Association, MSH, PATH and WHO. The Challenge TB project in South Sudan is coordinated by MSH.

The Challenge TB Project in South Sudan now wishes to fill the following position:
 

CBO and Community TB Officer
(Job No. 13-8061)
The Community Based Organization and community TB Supervisor will provide technical assistance to Primary Health Care facilities for the implementation of community-based TB care in the identification, tracking and referral of TB suspects.
S/he will build the capacity of facilities-based and outreach TB health workers, and local partner TB focal persons on community TB care, prevention and control.
S/he will coordinate and support the State and County TB Coordinators, private and project partners at the different levels on planning, implementation, monitoring and supportive supervision of TB activities. In addition,
S/he will support NTP to operationalize SOPs for improving on TB case detection in health facilities and community level.
Qualifications
  • Health Officer or Nurse professional (B.Sc. in Public Health or Nursing, with MPH preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years supervision and management skills and experience with a focus in TB/HIV program.
  • Demonstrated computer skills in MS Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Experience in group facilitation/team building and/or organizational development desirable.
  • Experience working with civil society organizations and/or government agencies.
  • Experience in providing trainings to health workers and CSO staff.
  • Fluency in English and local Arabic language is required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently outside of her/his duty station.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
