Job Title: National Sales Manager

Syngenta is seeking to engage a dynamic, highly driven and result oriented individual for the position of National Sales Manager.
This position will be primarily based in Kenya.

Reporting to the Head of Commercial Unit, the incumbent will be responsible for development of the country business strategy and working with the commercial team to implement the agreed customer strategy, monitor effectiveness and adjust as required, to ensure marketing and sales targets for the customer are achieved.

Roles and responsibilities will include:
  • Developing and implementing agreed sales plans, targets and budgets in accordance with the country strategy and objectives;
  • Developing the country sales strategy and directing its implementation to optimize overall sales volume and market share achievement;
  • Working closely with the sales, marketing and technical teams to build, implement, monitor and measure targeted business campaigns;
  • Working closely with marketing, technical and other functions to ensure appropriate customer segmentation and appropriate value offers are communicated as part of the field support programme;
  • Defending and promoting Syngenta interests with various stakeholders; identify and propose areas of collaboration for mutual benefit;
  • Growing and managing channel relationships and developing channel, implementing, monitoring and measuring channel business;
  • Understanding the agricultural value chain in developing sustainable strategies to fully exploit all the elements of the value chain and deploying resources as necessary in order to win at each level for the business;
  • Conducting sales budgeting and product forecasting — both seeds and crop protection products; and
  • Working in compliance with commercial policy of the country, HSE requirements, local legislation and competition law.
Skills and Attributes
  • A minimum of a Bachelors’ degree in Agriculture from a recognized institution;
  • At least 7 years’ progressive experience in sales development within the agribusiness sector, with a minimum of 3 years at managerial level;
  • Extensive knowledge of the Kenyan agricultural sales environment, sales techniques and approaches; and
  • Key sales management skills, strong understanding of customer needs, structure and business drivers.
