Glacier Products Supply Chain Manager Job Opening in Nairobi Kenya 2015

 

Glacier Products Limited, the manufacturer s of ice cream (Dairyland, Mio and Amore) seeks to recruit a Supply Chain Manager who will be based in our Nairobi plant.
The Position will be reporting to the Managing Director.
 
Main Purpose of the Job: Design & implement supply chains that support business strategies, cost reductions and manage the contracting procurement, Logistics and Stock Control processes.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop procedures for co-ordination of supply chain management with other functional areas, such as sales, marketing, finance, production and quality assurance.
  • Manage activities related to strategic or tactical purchasing, material requirements planning, inventory control, warehousing and stock control.
  • Ensure seamless intercompany stocks transfer
  • Monitor Sales forecasts & quotas to identify changes or to determine their effect on supply chain activities.
  • Define performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of supply chain factors, such as 5R’s i.e. Right Product, Cost, Quality, Delivery and lead times.
  • Document physical procurement and warehousing processes, such as workflows, cycle times, position responsibilities, or system flows.
  • Monitor supplier performance to assess ability to meet quality & delivery requirements, as well as undertake negotiations and materials scheduling.
  • Participate in the co-ordination of engineering changes, product line extensions, or new product launches to ensure orderly & timely transitions in material or production flow.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as production &  quality assurance, to identify or qualify new suppliers and appraise vendor manufacturing ability through on-site visits.
  • Select transportation routes to maximize economy by combining shipments and co-ordinate with customs freight forwarders & government entities to efficiently handle logistics.
  • Analyze inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste and optimize internal and external customer service.
  • Conduct or oversee the conduct of life cycle analyses to determine the environmental impacts of products, processes, or systems
Academic Qualifications
  • University Degree with CIPS Diploma in Purchasing & Supply Chain Management
  • Job Skills & Personal Attributes
  • Experience in  supplier negotiations, Procurement and Logistics in a busy FMCG  Organization
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and suppliers
  • Working knowledge of Import Controls, Shipment, and Customs clearance
  • Comfortable with prioritizing & managing multiple assignments
  • Adept in Microsoft Office Applications and Supply Chain Software e.g. Navision
