Vacancy Announcement: Civil Manager / Engineer
Our client is one of the top steel producing companies which is inspired by the growing need and demand to produce affordable raw materials for the country’s growing construction industry and mega infrastructure projects.
They aspire to be the leader in the production of thermo-mechanically treated steel bars with operations in light and medium structural mill and tube mill for the engineering grade steel.
The steel construction site is located in Mwavumbo, Mariakani Kwale county where they intend to set up the plant mill.
In line with the business demands driven by rapid growth, they are looking for a qualified, highly competent, projects and results driven individual to fill the position of a Civil Manager.
Job Purpose / Summary: The job holder will be responsible for the planning, designing and managing the construction of the steel plant projects.
The Civil Manager will oversee preparation of civil construction documents in line with the plan, design and drawings of the project.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Convey specific elements of the project design and overall project to the contractor throughout the construction phase.
- Understand and integrate multiple key factors during the implementation of the project.
- Discuss requirements with the CEO, architects and other professionals.
- Ensure sound engineering practices are adhered to during the project cycle.
- Ensure compliance with the municipal regulations and permits.
- Monitor and control the project costs.
- Review and recommend on the constructability of the design.
- Analyse survey, mapping and materials-testing data with computer modelling software.
- Draw up blue prints using computer aided design (CAD).
- Assess requirements of materials, cost and time.
- Assess the environmental impact and risks connected to the project.
- Prepare bids for tender and finalisation of the tender process.
- Manage, direct and monitor progress during each phase of the project.
- Make sure the sites meet legal guidelines, health and safety requirements.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree/ Diploma in Civil Engineering and a diploma in project management.
- 6-10 years working experience in project set up and civil construction of big steel projects.
- Experience in the civil design field and professional licensure (PE) are desired.
- Proficiency in CAD and computer modelling software.
- The candidate is expected to have a detailed understanding of the field conditions and challenges faced in the site works
- The candidate should have exceptional communication skills, attention to details and capable of managing multiple projects and multiple team members.
- Analytical and can work under pressure in a dynamic work environment.
