USAID’s Partnership Agro-processing Specialist and Poultry Specialist Jobs Opening in Somaliland October 2014

 

Notice to Consultants / Specialists
USAID’s Partnership for Economic Growth Partnership Fund
The USAID-funded Partnership for Economic Growth program (Partnership) is implemented by Development Alternatives, Inc. (DAI). 
The purpose of the Partnership is to help local authorities and private sector groups improve the enabling environment for investment and generate more productive employment. 
The Partnership Fund is the Partnership program’s business grants activity, which provides matching in-kind and cash grants to innovative organizations and businesses in Somaliland (northern Somalia) to support private sector development. 
After a rigorous business plan competition, the Partnership program launched Round 2 of the Partnership Fund in August 2014. Grantees in this round represent a variety of economic sectors such as livestock, agriculture, and fisheries. 
DAI requires qualified and experienced consultants / specialists to work with the Partnership program to support business grantees in the implementation of their projects in Somaliland.
 

Agro-processing Specialist (Reference # HRG-DAI-1-2014)

The role of the consultant will be to support three grantees in their agro-processing businesses, specifically grain processing, sesame oil and peanut oil production. 
The consultant will provide technical support with the review of specifications for agroprocessing equipment and oversee installation. 
Following an assessment of the grantees’ technical capacity, the specialist may be required to provide training for the company’s local technicians. 
The specialist will also be required to provide technical input on the operational management of the processing plants, and guidance on best practices for managing a food processing business.

Poultry Specialist (Reference # HRG-DAI-4-2014)
The role of the consultant will be to support two business grantees in the expansion of their poultry operations through the acquisition of more land, chicks, purchase of related equipment, and the construction of housing and chick pens. 
The specialist will not only be required to oversee the infrastructural expansion, but also advise on best practices on managing the new scale of operations, procurement of equipment, as well as provide technical capacity in poultry production and management.
