Supplier Quality Engineer

Location: Nairobi
Our client is a motor vehicle manufacturer and seller for the African Market.
They seek to hire a Supplier Quality Engineer to provide exceptional quality management.
Duties and responsibilities
- Responsible for the quality of raw materials used in development or manufacturing
- Support development of supplier policies
- Analyze supplier performance and develop improvement plans for problem areas.
- Develop systems for assessing potential new suppliers.
- Carry out investigations into customer complaints and drive corrective actions required.
- Ensure control plans are in place for all products and regularly updated as required.
- Prepare quality reports for distribution to quality team.
- Review supplier processes, and advice on improvement and value addition opportunities.
- Work with suppliers directly to mitigate quality issues, including creating corrective action plans
- Regularly communicate with internal department to identify opportunities for quality and productivity improvement.
- Collect and maintain supplier performance details
- Regularly visit suppliers
- Investigate quality issues and present findings.
- Identify repeat quality issues by supplier and maintain supplier quality scorecard
- Recommend suppliers for qualification and / or disqualification based upon quality performance.
- Take ownership of projects; plan milestones, timelines, budgets, resources and identify potential risks
- Manage difficult suppliers and resolve disputes while preserving relationships with suppliers Ensure adherence and compliance to general automotive industry production standards and best practices
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelors Degree in Business/ Quality Management/ Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years related experience in quality engineering, mechanical engineering, production Experience preferably in the automotive industry
- Exceptional leadership and clear sense of direction
- Extreme patience and a good sense of humour
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build strong rapport with others
- Exceptional integrity and a strong sense of ethics
- Exceptional persistence and endurance to overcome significant challenges
