Job description
Malaika honey is looking to hire a Business Development Officer to support the social development arm of the business, provide PR support and marketing support.
Responsibilities
New Business Development
o Prospect for potential new clients and turn this into increased business.
o Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging the company’s network.
o Identify potential clients, and the decision makers within the client organization.
o Research and build relationships with new clients
o Participate in pricing
Client Retention
o Present new products and services and enhance existing relationships.
o Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs.
o Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs.
Business Development Planning
o Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
o Work closely with TUNADO and other NGOs to promote the organization’s mission.
o Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales and opportunity for bee farmers.
o Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
Management and Research
o Submit weekly progress reports and ensure data is accurate.
o Work with marketing staff to ensure that prerequisites (like prequalification or getting on a vendor list) are fulfilled within a timely manner.
o Ensure all team members represent the company in the best light.
Public Relations
o Represent the company at industry and other agri business events
o Work closely with development partners to obtain support for the farmer empowerment projects of the company
o Ensure the company complies with all industry standards and regulations.

Qualifications

o Bachelor’s Degree in Management or related field
o At least 2 years’ experience in marketing
o Experience in an agri business company is an added advantage
o Experience in public relations work is added advantage
o Strong interpersonal and communication skills
o Must be a people person
