Job Title: Fleet Monitor

Reports To: Fleet Coordinator, General Manager

Supervises: Drivers

Job Summary / Objective: To manage organizations’ fleet of trucks with responsibility for efficiency and turnaround as well as maximize the utilization of the fleet while containing costs in the operations of the business

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitor ALL fleet movement through the tracking system and prepare reports on the same as and when required
  • Ensure all vehicles being loaded are fitted with tracking devices
  • Ensure all tracking devices are in good working order at all times
  • Assist in the assessment of drivers competence before employment and deployment
  • Prepare and present daily reports on driver violations and fleet movement
  • Ensure drivers adhere to company policies and procedures especially speed limits and night driving rules. Immediately call drivers should you see any violations and warn them. Once you warn them three times, report to Ops team to take up immediate dismissal,
  • Ensure ALL drivers dismissed NEVER load Kengas cargo,
  • Keep operations team abreast on the status of ALL cargo while loaded by giving Truck Status Reports
  • Ensure that pre-trip and post-loading checklists are received from all branches every week, scrutinize and prepare an analysis of the same and give details in the weekly Operations report
  • Establish and maintain good clientele relationship by ensuring that the drivers maintain high level of discipline and integrity and that clients’ cargo is delivered intact and as scheduled
  • Participate in the development and implementation of fleet policy for all vehicles
  • Participate in coordinating fleet maintenance and fuel consumption
  • Monitor and give weekly report on the fuel consumed per km vs fuel given to the truck
  • Monitor and give weekly report on harsh breaking to reduce the wear and tear of vehicles
  • Ensure all vehicles are inspected, insured and licensed and accidents reported
  • Preparation of management reports on the performance of the fleet
  • Prepare vehicle valuation and inspection reports and make follow up with relevant authorities on
  • SOLELY RESPONSIBLE SHOULD A TRUCK HAVE AN ACCIDENT (MINOR OR MAJOR) AND THE INVESTIGATION FINDS YOU WERE NOT VIGILANT IN PREVENTING IT
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Management.
Qualifications:
  • Diploma in Business Management or Logistics,
  • Excellent computer skills,
  • 2 years working experience in fleet monitoring,
  • Be familiar with the conditions and dynamics of EA Logistics/ Fleet issues
  • Good communications skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Well organized
