Supervisor: CD / MERL Director

• Lead technical assistance to the Yetu Initiative in the key areas of capacity development.
• Conduct, and build the capacity of others to conduct organizational capacity assessments. This may include identifying local institutions to train in capacity assessment.
• Provide targeted training and mentoring to local CSO and private sector partners of the Yetu Initiative to ensure success and sustainability.
• Provide input and technical review of research and learning documents produced by the Yetu Initiative.
• Perform any other duties as assigned in support of Pact’s role in Yetu.

• Enable the implementation and monitoring of Pact’s global standards for capacity development programming.
• Provide leadership in designing appropriate capacity assessment tools and developing capacity development plans for local CSO partners.
• Oversee capacity assessments for local CSO partners and develop institutional strengthening plans to inform capacity development support for each partner.
• Ensure effective capacity development support to local CSO partners using appropriate strategies to adequately respond to the institutional strengthening needs of the organization including training, mentoring and coaching, and systems and policy development.
• Support development and customization of training materials as needed to address local CSO capacity development needs.
• Ensure regular monitoring and documentation of progress with implementation of capacity development plans for local CSO partners and follow up as needed to ensure all planned activities are implemented.
• Implement systems for measuring, monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of capacity building approaches.
• Establish partnerships with relevant capacity development institutions in Kenya and beyond.
• Identify opportunities to share best practices and lessons learned at national and international platforms.
• Contribute to cross-organization initiatives including development of bid/funding proposals.
• Perform any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor.

• Masters degree in a relevant social science discipline.
• Professional qualification in organizational development an added advantage.
• At least 10 years’ experience in a similar position.
• Experience working with USAID funded programs focused on organizational capacity development.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct organizational capacity assessments, capacity building plans, provide technical assistance and one-on-one mentoring, develop training materials and conduct small group training sessions.
• Experience using Appreciative Inquiry and other techniques that build upon the best in an organization.
• Computer skills, including word processing and data management.

• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation, interpersonal).
• Ability to work under pressure and with minimum supervision.
• Ability to travel on short notice.
• Strong team orientation.
