Duration of Initial Contract: 5 months with possibility of extension.
Background: Islamic Relief Somalia (IRS) has been operating in Somalia since 2006 and has responded to conflict and drought affected people through provision of life saving assistance.
Through our projects, IR has continuously been providing safe drinking water, improving hygienic sanitation facilities, increasing hygiene awareness, particularly to ones living in IDP camps; empowering the urban poor and distressed working children, engaging in conflict management and mitigation and strengthening of community cohesiveness and co-existence.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- To promote the health services we are providing the population and healthy behaviours by giving health promotion talks to IDPs in Mogadishu.
- To identify and report information about diseases and health seeking behaviours of the communities.
- To collect population figures and mortality figures in the IDP camps.
- Active screening of the population and refer them to the existing health facilities.
- Informing the population about the relief services.
- To assist in other programmes and activities
- As health promoter, you are responsible for respective IDP camps Located.
- Make regular visits to shelters to screen for sick persons, pregnant women, persons with AWD, malnourished children and those not immunized against measles, and refer these to health or nutritional facilities.
- Also screening for other problems: defaulters from particular programmes, vulnerable groups with specific problems, etc. In the case of disease outbreaks, this screening task will have to be reinforced.
- Speak Somali language
- Read Somali language
- English is a asset
- Knowledge of the community culture.
Qualification
- Degree or Diploma of health science from recognized University. .
- Relevant further qualifications in Laboratory training and experience
- Good communication skills
- Self-confident
- Able to work in team
- Able to take initiatives
- Sensitive to health issues
- Able to work under pressure
- Diplomatic and patient
Skills and Work Experience
- 2 year of promote the health services awareness creation and prevention of Communicable .
- Understand (CHAP) community hygiene awareness promotion.
