Request of Expression of Interest for Associate Trainers

 
1. Introduction: The Eastern Africa Grain Institute (EAGI) is a division of Eastern Africa Grain Council (EAGC), which aims at providing agribusiness training, capacity building and consultancy services to key stakeholders in the grain value chain on a sustainable basis. 
The vision of the institute is to be recognized as the regional centre for innovations and advancements in the Grain Industry in Eastern Africa.
The institute aims to be an agent of transformation of the Agricultural Sector with focus on the grain sector through promoting and enabling the development of expertise and innovations in the agricultural sector, giving more attention to the grain value chain in the Eastern Africa region.

EAGC was established in 2006 at the request, and through the efforts of key stakeholders in the three main sections of the grain value chain; producers, traders and processors. 

EAGC’s core function is to improve the policy and trading environment in the Eastern Africa regional grain trade, strengthen market linkages and reduce the constraints along the grain value chain. 
To achieve this the Council’s focuses on the expansion and harmonization of agricultural market information systems; harmonization of agricultural trade policies; capacity building for trade and farmer organizations and promotes structured trading systems i.e. rules of trade, use of trade contracts, collateral management, and development of an enabling environment where warehouse receipts systems and commodity exchanges can emerge.
2. The proposal:
EAGI hereby invites expression of interest proposals from Associate Trainers to who will support the delivery of our accredited and commercial training programmes in the following courses:
  1. Warehouse Operations
  2. Milling operations
  3. Agriculture financing
  4. Post-harvest Management
  5. Agriculture Trade Policy Analysis and Impact assessment
  6. Agriculture Commodity Exchange
  7. Warehouse Receipt Systems
  8. Storage and Pest Control
  9. Grain Quality and Standards
  10. Market Information Systems
  11. Trade Contracts
  12. Gender Mainstreaming in Farmer Organizations
  13. Supply Chain Management
  14. Leadership and Governance in Agribusiness and Farmer organizations
3. Deliverables:
  • To deliver high level training courses and other learning interventions both in theory and practical aspects.
  • To aid in development of course content and materials, and ensure the content is accurate and up to date.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and identification of requirements for curriculum development and enhancement.
  • Implement methodologies which will improve the capability of the trainees.
  • Support marketing of the training courses provided by the institute.
  • Technical support to ensure conduct of quality training at the designated training locations.
  • Carrying out an evaluation of the training/capacity building and prepare an end of training report.
  • The role may include travel to other member countries for training/capacity building purposes.
  • Supervision of field/industrial attachments where necessary
4. Eligibility:
  • Bachelors, Masters and PHD in specific training modules/courses.
  • Minimum of 3 years hands-on practical experience in training/capacity building especially for adult learners.
  • Proven competence in design, implementation and evaluation training/capacity building programmes.
  • A track record of undertaking similar activities is required, especially the practical aspects.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
5. Payment
  • To be based on EAGI rates.
  • To be paid in Kshs/hour for Kenyan Experts; similar amounts of US Dollars US Dollars / hour for experts from outside Kenya.
  • To be paid at the end of the Assignment (Short Assignments)
  • To be paid on monthly basis (Long Assignments)
