Vacancy:  Project Officer- Youth Development

Over the past 55 years, we are constantly exploring new ways to use the time, energy and skills of people to make a difference in the lives of the most disadvantaged groups of people.

VSO Rwanda is seeking a Project Officer who will support the Country Office’s Livelihoods & Youth programme team in effectively managing the youth development programme (including design project proposals, reporting and assessing potential partners). The Project Officer will also work with the programme team to identify and select national volunteers who will work with different partners and beneficiaries to deliver on Youth Development and national volunteering initiatives.

You will have professional experience of project management as well as working knowledge of rights, needs and priorities of vulnerable groups, social inclusion, inclusive local development and decentralisation in Rwanda and in other international contexts. You will also have a strong ability to think innovatively and introduce new approaches to local development.

The candidates should have practical experience within a volunteering organisations/Non-Government Organisation context and Working knowledge for gender and social inclusion.

You will need to have a degree in a related subject preferably in social science, demonstrable experience in working with local government /programme administration and management; excellent interpersonal and planning skills are essential along with the capacity to work as an effective team player; self-motivated, with attention to details and pro-active, with strong communication skills (fluency in English and French) and good computer skills.

Compensation:

  • Gross monthly starting salary up to: Rwf 785,130.
  • 100% medical insurance for staff and dependents
  • 3.5% of private pension benefit/ provident fund
  • 37 days annual leave including public holidays
