Recruitment of ECDE Teachers 

(806 Positions)
The Homa Bay County Government wishes to recruit qualified and competent ECDE teachers to fill the vacant positions as spelt out under the 4th schedule to the constitution of Kenya 2010.
 
Requirements:
  1. National Identity cards (both sides)
  2. Academic certificates
  3. Professional certificates
  4. Two coloured passports size photographs
  5. Any other relevant testimonials

Requirements:
 

1. Academic: 
Be holder of form four certificates (KCE/EACE)
  • Division III and above
  • KCSE D+ and above
  • KCSE D plain with KNEC proficiency
2. Professional Qualifications
  • Certificate in ECDE
  • Diploma and degree certificate will be an added advantage
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Be able to communicate using language of the catchment area
  2. Be conversant with ECDE syllabus and curriculum delivery
  3. Be an actual classroom teacher/ caregiver
  4. Be able to interpret child care services
  5. Be a community mobilizer and conversant with ECDE matters / activities
  6. Be a link between child and parent.
  7. Be able to advice on feeding programs
  8. Have adequate knowledge on growth monitoring and evaluation.
  9. Be conversant with the working system, with line ministries like ministry of health in administration of vitamins A and deworming, Min. of water in the provision of safe drinking water, Child care services and care plus OVCS, Child rights , abuse, neglect and labour.

ECDE Zonal Supervisors 
(19 Positions)
Requirements:
  1. Diploma holders with 5 years of experience
  2. Be a degree holders preferably in ECDE
  3. Must have 5 supervisory experience
  4. Must be computer literate
  5. A good report writer
Duties
The successful candidates will be answerable to their respective sub-county program officers and will be responsible for:
  1. Coordinating ECDE activities in the zone
  2. Organizing refresher courses to the ECDE teachers and other stakeholders
  3. Liaising with line ministries on ECDE children immunization
  4. Ensure quality coverage and delivery of ECDE curriculum through regular supervisory visits to teachers in ECDE centres
  5. Liaise with various stakeholders to ensure that all children of appropriate age are enrolled and actually attending school regularly
  6. Organize zonal material development workshops and seminars
  7. Recruiting eligible ECDE teachers for training both at certificate and diploma levels
  8. Develop a localized ECDE curriculum to be incorporated into the mainstream curriculum
  9. Assess potential ECDE centres for the purpose of registration by the Ministry of Education ICT
  10. Collect, maintain and submit ECDE statistical data to the program officer.
Youth Polytechnic Instructors
(50 Positions)

  • Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities at this level will involve theoretical and practical instruction in the area of specialization; preparing and maintaining of schemes of work, lesson plans, lesson notes, teaching and learning materials and trainee records; carrying out trainee assessment; ensuring proper care and maintenance of tools and equipment; conducting co-curricular activities; maintain trainee discipline; guidance and counseling of trainees; monitoring trainees on field work and industrial attachment and compiling progress reports.
 
Requirements for Appointment
Potential candidates must be in possession of Diploma in any of the technical fields/disciplines; and certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.
OR
  • Minimum of form four (4) academic certificate
  • Minimum trade test grade II in the relevant profession for instructors working in a Youth Polytechnic (YP) under the Board of Governors (BOG).
Sub-County Youth Training Officers
(8 Positions)
Requirements for appointment:
1. Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines:
Education or Technical Education from a recognized institution
OR
Bachelor degree in science/ Bachelor of Arts degree with a post graduate diploma in education from a recognized institution
2. Diploma in computer in any of the above technical fields from a recognized institution with at least 3 year experience will be an added advantage.
 
Duties and Responsibilities: Collecting and analyzing data on youth polytechnic enrolment, training projections, subsidized tuition scheme grant, trainees industrial attachment, special needs, greening of youth polytechnics and staff skills inventory, preparing reports on requirements of youth polytechnics in terms of curriculum support materials, tools, and equipment and participating in inter – zonal youth polytechnic activities.
