Vacancies

The Meru County Government wishes to recruit competent and qualified persons to fill the following vacant positions as per the constitution of Kenya 2010 and section 451, 150 and 510 of the County Government Act No.17 of 2012.

(1) County Chief Officer, Transport & Infrastructure
Job Group “S”
Salary: Kshs 120,270 p.m

House Allowance: Kshs 56,000 p.m

Commuter Allowance: Kshs 20,000 p.m
Terms of Service: Contract
 
Requirements for appointment
The ideal candidate should have the following minimum qualifications.
  • BSC/BTech in Civil /structural Engineering
  • At least 5 years’ experience in planning and management of civil works
  • Familiar with engineering and design softwares e.g civil CAD, Civil 3D and use of Microsoft office project.
  • Knowledge in design and construction of power plants.
  • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
  • MBA is an added advantage
Duties and Responsibilities
The Chief Officer shall be the authorized officer in respect of exercise of delegated powers and shall be responsible to the RESPECTIVE County Executive Member for:-
  • The Administration of the County Department
  • Implementation of policies and Development Plans
  • Development and implementation of Strategic Plans
  • Formulate and implement effective programmes to attain vision 2030 and sector goals
  • Promote National values and principles of governance and values and principles of the County Public Service.
(2) County Legal Officer

Salary Scale: Kshs.120,270
House Allowance: Kshs.56,000 p.m
Commuter Allowance: Kshs 20,000 p.m
Terms of Service: Contract
 
Requirements for Appointment
  • Be a Kenyan Citizen
  • Be a holder of at least a first degree in Law from a university recognized in Kenya;
  • Have knowledge, experience and a distinguished career of not less than ten years as a legal practitioner; and
  • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Providing legal advice to the County
  • Representing the County in civil matters as need arises;
  • Keeping abreast of legal and policy developments;
  • Providing legislative support to the County as well as preparing amendments where appropriate.
  • Identifying strategic priority areas that require law reform; and
  • Undertaking legal research.
For candidate to meet the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution 2012, he/she must have the following clearance:-
  1. A certificate of good Conduct from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID)
  2. A clearance certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
  3. A tax compliance certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
  4. A clearance certificate from the Kenya Anticorruption Commission (KACC)
