National Team Coordinator – Community Work

The National Team Coordinator – Community Work position seeks to strengthen the delivery of quality interventions within Community Work department.

As such the National Team Coordinator – Community Work is part of the DSW Community Work team as well as the respective Country department.
(S)He works closely with the ITM-CW and the national team coordinators of the other country offices in this field.
(S)He works in close cooperation with the National Department Manager to ensure the effective and efficient implementation of projects within his/her area of responsibility.
(S)He also cooperates closely with all other national team coordinators in the country office to effectively link project design, quality implementation and reporting.

General areas of responsibility:

Organizational Development
  • Advise the Department Manager on departmental inputs for implementation of the strategic plan objectives
  • Support the Department Manager in the implementation of organisational policies and procedures
  • Support the Department Manager in developing training and coaching programmes with regard to community work
Team Coordination
  • Coordinate and monitor the community work staff including the development of clear goals and targets
  • Provide technical support, backstopping and resources about the latest developments in the field of community work to the CO community work staff
  • Monitor progress of project implementation against wok plans and budgets
  • Ensure in cooperation with the department manager timely and quality results of project implementation  and reporting (to donors and according to DSW guidelines and procedures)
  • Ensure impact assessments are conducted regularly
  • Support resource mobilization efforts to ensure funds for community work projects are available
Operational responsibilities
  • Establish links with partners who implement successful youth / community programmes
  • Represents DSW overall perspectives and interests to external and internal stakeholders
  • Support in the review of tools and other project related guidelines
  • Contribute to the documentation of best practices
  • Any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Specific tasks
  • Supervision of project staff in his/her area of responsibility
  • Submit high quality activity progress reports to the National Program Manager
Minimum requirements:
  • University degree in Public Health, Development studies or other relevant field
  • Fluent English and Kiswahili language skills (oral and written)
  • Very good communication and computer skills
  • At least 6 years of NGO working experience in a similar area of responsibility
  • Good knowledge of donor reporting
