Food Processors: Call for Expressions of Interest
TechnoServe in collaboration with Partners in Food Solutions (PFS) and USAID is implementing Solutions for African Food Enterprises (SAFE). The objective of SAFE is to increase competitiveness of the African food processing sector to expand availability of affordable and nutritious foods.
TechnoServe is currently selecting Small and Medium scale food companies to participate in SAFE.
Select companies will benefit from tailor-made knowledge and technology transfer from volunteer experts from some of the world leading food and equipment manufacturers such as General Mills, Cargill, Royal DSM and Buhler.
TechnoServe, together with these partner companies will support select companies in their efforts to become competitive producers of nutritious food products.
Support may include quality improvements, packaging, process development, formulation, business
management, fortification, marketing and branding.

We are calling for Expressions of Interest from small and medium sized food processors who would like to participate in SAFE.
To be considered for the selection process, companies should satisfy the following minimum requirements:
- Minimum of 5 employees.
- Process food products that have a nutritional component e.g. fortified flours, fortified edible oils, blended flours, etc.
- Preference will go to products that benefit vulnerable populations (e.g. children, nursing/lactating mothers, people living with HIV/AIDS, etc.).
- Clearly articulated technology needs and willing to implement advice from volunteer experts.
- Have no major financial risks.
- Willing to share business data to help the project measure its impact.
- Source raw materials directly or indirectly from small holder farmers.
Expressions of interest should include the following information:
1. Company profile – name, address, year of establishment, ownership, number of employees, products, production capacity;
2. Source(s) of major raw materials;
3. List top three support needs that you would like SAFE to support.
